Online tests of software pass the one million mark

Gothenburg, Sweden (November 16, 2004)

Gothenburg, Sweden (November 16, 2004) Runaware's alternative to downloads, installations and CDs is gaining ground. The number of tests performed on the company's technical platform increased significantly from September to October, simultaneously as the one million mark was passed. More than one million tests of software have now been made with Runaware's technology.

The instant and online alternative for program testing is on the threshold of an absolute breakthrough. Runaware passed the one million mark in September, implying that more than one million software tests have now been performed on the company's TestDrive platform since its launch in 2000. Just from September to October this year, the number of tests increased by more than 30 percent – clearly showing that both users and the sector have started to realise the technology's huge potential.

Runaware has about 35 customers, including Microsoft, SAP, Citrix and FileMaker. Further contracts are currently in progress. Customers also include SPCS, Sweden's largest supplier of software to small companies. According to SPCS' sales manager Fredrik Skoglund, Runaware TestDrive is "the new way of testing software":
"It must be naturally easy to evaluate and get the feeling of a program in a computer without complicated installations. Both we and the customer benefit each time we skip sending out a demo CD."

Runaware's technical platform, TestDrive, is a secure and simple way of testing software in a web browser directly over the Internet – thus avoiding downloads, installations and CDs. TestDrive functions in all known web browsers, and is based on secure, proven and stable technology that enables a program to be tested in a computer.
"In addition to being simpler and more secure for the customer, Runaware's technical platform also implies an improved bonus for software companies, who receive useful information about everyone who has tested their programs," says Runaware's operations manager, Stefan Gidlund.

The October statistics show that one test session in five is of more than 20 minutes duration, and that more than one session in five is between 10 and 20 minutes long. "This means that there are really seriously interested customers who choose to test a product over the Internet," says Stefan Gidlund.
