Boost for IT company located in sparsely populated region

The IT company AM Hultdin, located in the north of Sweden, is able to increase sales and simultaneously save a lot of money by replacing long sales trips with the Internet for the demonstration of the company's software and systems. The technology used comes from Runaware, which develops holistic solutions for the marketing, testing and evaluation of software over the Internet.

AM Hultdin is an IT company located in the small community of Malå in northern Sweden, on the same latitude as Skellefteå. AM Hultdin's R&D department in Skellefteå develops software for quality control within the manufacturing industry.

Sales have traditionally been built on personal meetings between salesperson and customer, but as customers became increasingly spread over the whole of Sweden, sales trips became longer and more expensive. Indeed, travel costs were so high in the end that Mats Hultdin, part-owner and marketing manager of AM Hultdin, considered letting a partner company take over most of the sales work and demonstration of the company's systems. The situation was however saved by Runaware's solution for marketing and sales of software over the Internet.

"Runaware's technology has proven to be incredibly good and valuable for us up here in the north of Sweden. We have been able to radically reduce our travel costs and simultaneously increase our sales. In spite of having sales meetings at a distance with our customers, it is just like sitting with the customer when we demonstrate our programs. The only difference is that the customer cannot see me," says Mats Hultdin, marketing manager of AM Hultdin.

Leader in northern sweden
AM Hultdin consists of two departments. The R&D office in Skellefteå develops a user-friendly Internet-based platform for quality control with the objective of rendering companies' procedures more effective within documentation, case management and maintenance. The offices in Malå and Umeå distribute IT-related products to companies. Within a short period of time, the company has succeeded in building up a business with 11 employees and annual sales of close to SEK 50 million.
"Thanks to Runaware, we can now look forward to further developing the company, simultaneously as we feel secure in retaining the office in Malå," says Mats Hultdin.

Suitable for large and small software companies
Runaware's customers have so far been large software manufacturers such as FileMaker, Microsoft, Citrix and the Swedish company SPCS. The cooperation agreement with AM Hultdin demonstrates that relatively small software companies can also significantly benefit from Runaware's technical platform.

"This contract shows that Runaware's solutions function just as well for large as for small software companies. Our technology enables AM Hultdin's customers to immediately obtain a demonstration of programs and systems via the Internet, which in turn leads to faster purchase decisions," says Runaware's operations manager, Stefan Gidlund.
